ABOUT THE CLOSURE OF CHUNKY MAIL ORDER
Due to some folks being a bit confused about the state of Chunky I thought i'd add this explanation page to the website to explain what's going on as clearly as possible. Please take a minute to read it if you can.
About a year ago I made the decision to close down chunky mail order. It was a hard decision but something I felt I had to do in order to save me from financial disaster and also from going insane. It had gone from being a fun / enjoyable experience to a nightmare, the whole business side of things became too much to handle for me and I had to say 'HALT' or things would have become very serious and problematic.
Since that day I stopped taking in any new stock and we've solely been selling off older items that we still have in the stockroom (see website catalogue for list of what we have). All you will find in our stock catalogue now are items that we have in the storeroom that we need to clear out. This 'closedown' will be taking a LONG time as there is a hell of a lot of records and cd's to shift !
If it's listed in the catalogue it should be available. Obviously some items will remain listed by mistake but I'm confident the website catalogue is about 95% accurate and is updated as often as humanely possible as things sell out. If something is not listed then we definately don't have it. There are some non-catalogue items that I'm selling and they are listed on www.ebay.co.uk as and when I unearth them. To see what they are simply search under my ebay name andy-j-smith
Chunky will not close officially until I have sold off the remaining stock (or the majority of it at least) and that means we could be open until this time next year. I simply don't know when it will all end for good so don't be afraid to keep spending your cash ;o)
Until then we are very much open for business, same as before. I may not be around to answer phone calls as much but all email orders / enquires will be answered ASAP as before. Email is definately the best way to contact me or place orders. The best email address to use is orders@chunkyrecords.com
Lastly I want to thank all the chunky customers over the years for your support and custom. It's been much appreciated and was good fun for a while. Also a big thanks to all the labels and bands who I got to know through selling their releases, promoting their shows in Birmingham / Wolverhampton or even writing about them in the chunky zine 'cafebliss' all those moons ago. You are all much appreciated by me and I wish you all well for the future.
